dc.description.abstract | Fouteen days before the Inchon landing operation, US-Korean Intelligence Team gathered tidal information and approach channel information which is key importance to landing operation and relay back to UN headquarters in Tokyo. First they have checked tidal predictions at Inchon by Japanese Hydrographic Department and US C&GS predictions and found that US predictions was wrong. Both predictions were made by tidal predicting machine (Kelvin predictor in Tokyo, and William Ferrel’s version in US). At 00:50 on 15 September 1950 Lietenant Eugene Clark and South Korean squad activated the lighthouse on the Palmido to assist the amphibious force entering the approach channel to Inchon. Here we report the re-visit attempt of tidal simulation using the modern day computerized method by tide-wave-surge coupled process based model during the period of 15-18 September, 1950. We have also developed digital version of Tidal Predictor and harmonic constants analyzed by 1943-44 observations were used for comparisonave checked tidal predictions at Inchon by Japanese Hydrographic Department and US C&GS predictions and found that US predictions was wrong.
