Sarasinosides and pouosides isolated from the marine sponge extract showing neurite outgrowth activity

Abstract

Based on the results of high-throughtput screening of marine organism extracts for neurite-outgrowth activity, the extract of a sponge collected from Chuuk, Micronesia was chosen for further investigation. From this extract, eleven sarasinoside derivatives, including a new compound, and two pouoside derivatives were obtained. The structure of new compound was elucidated based on 2D NMR and HRMS analysis. The neurite-outgrowthactivity of each isolated compound will be examined in the near future.
