Abstract
Marine-derived fungi have proven to be an important source for pharmaceutical reseach. In our continuing search for bioactive substances from marine microorganisms, we encountered a stelliform fungus Mycosphaerella sp. 135PIL286. This strain was isolated from a marine sponge collected from Philippines. A new and several known compounds were isolated and purified by ODS column chromatography and semi-prep HPLC from the strain 135PIL286 culture broth. The structure of the new compound was elucidated by the analyses of the extensive 2D NMR and mass spectroscopy.n was isolated from a marine sponge collected from Philippines.
