dc.description.abstract Classification of submerged objects can be performed using broadband sonar and underwater sound scattering analysis. Backscattered signals obtained from a submerged object are used for target detection and classification by researchers. In particular, resonance scattering studies have been used actively to identify cylindrical objects. Scattered signals from the target are composed of specular echo and elastic echo, due to the boundary condition between the shell and inner material [1,2]. In this study, we used a broadband shockwave (1&#8211 60 kHz) as the incident wave in backscattered signal simulations. Simulation results from the echo signals provided information on the radius and shell thickness of a hollow, air-filled, cylindrical shell target [3].particular, resonance scattering studies have been used actively to identify cylindrical objects.
