Abstract
The lowest weight gain, feed efficiency, specific growth rate and feed intake of S. inermis was observed at pH 6.0 (P < 0.05), but it was not significantly different to those of pH 8.0 and pH 7.0 groups (P > 0.05). Decrease in the water pH level provoked a significant (P < 0.05) decrease of lipid and increase of protein, ash and moisture, Ca, P and K content in fish. Decrease in the pH level provoked significant (P < 0.05) increase of GOT, GPT, glucose, triglyceride and total cholesterol concentration of blood in S. inermis. These results indicate that decrease of water pH from 8.0 to 6.0 caused reduction of growth as well as change of body composition and haematology of S. inermis.level provoked a significant (P < 0.05) decrease of lipid and increase of protein, ash and moisture, Ca, P and K content in fish. Decrease in the pH level provoked significant (P < 0.05) increase of GOT, GPT, glucose, triglyceride and total cholesterol concentration of blood in S. inermis. These results indicate that decrease of water pH from 8.0 to 6.0 caused reduction of growth as well as change of body composition and haematology of S. inermis.
