Abstract
It was observed that the red grouper sperm exhibited the highest post-thaw mobility with 10% glycerol as cryoprotectant while the giant grouper sperm showed the highest level of mobility with DMSO. For species of tiger grouper and hybrid grouper, glycerol was the most effective for the post-thaw mobility. Fertilization capacity of the cryopreserved sperm was evaluated in comparison with the natural red grouper sperm (control). Fertilization rate of the natural red grouper spermto the natural red grouper eggs was 89% with 31.3% of the fertilized eggs hatched. Meanwhile, the cryopreserved giant grouper sperm exhibited 29.9% fertilization rate with 16.0% hatch rate, the cryopreserved tiger grouper sperm showed 27.8% fertilization rate with 18.9% hatch rate and 9.1% of the cryopreserved hybrid grouper sperm was fertilized to the eggs with 0% hatched.ouper, glycerol was the most effective for the post-thaw mobility.
