Abstract
Jellyfishes are member of Phylum Cnidaria, comprised an independent Class Scyphozoa. Structure and function of the scyphozoan genome has remained to be uncovered. The jellyfish genome project has initiated recently in two species, Nemopilema nomurai and Aurelia sp., by following long-read sequencing approach, so called TruSeq Synthetic Long-Read (TSLR). As the assembly results, the long-read sequencing technology seemed to be applicable to whole genome de novo assembly in invertebrates with high level of heterozygosity. The jellyfish genome information will shed light on many mysteries, for instances, metamorphosis in jellyfish evolutionary aspects of signaling pathways in pattern formation, innate immune system, apoptosis, tumorigenesis, venom evolution, and so on.a nomurai and Aurelia sp., by following long-read sequencing approach, so called TruSeq Synthetic Long-Read (TSLR).
