Abstract
High resolution records for terrestrial biomarkers, n-alkanes compounds, were investigated in two gravity core (SJP-2 and SJP-4) taken from the southern coastal areas to evaluate the variation in terrestrial organic matter influx. Based on the 14C age dating, both core sediments had been deposited since the mid-Holocene, the age of the bottom of each core reached 5,500 Cal yr BP in SJP-2 and 5,000 Cal yr BP in SJP-4, respectively. High concentrations of total n-alkanes (nC25-35) in two cores shows increasing tendency from 4,500yr to about 2,000yr with similar concentration in both cores. However, the concentration shows a switching at the boundary of 2,500yr in both cores suggesting variation of terrestrial biomarker influx at this time. Several indices of Average Chain Length (ACL), Carbon Preferences Index (ICP) and paleo-vegetation index (Paq) showed coincident variation in both cores ACL shows narrow range of variations with slight shift at the 2,500yr, CPI is decreasing tendency from 4,000yr to 2,500 yr, and Paq increase in this intervals in two cores.the 14C age dating, both core sediments had been deposited since the mid-Holocene, the age of the bottom of each core reached 5,500 Cal yr BP in SJP-2 and 5,000 Cal yr BP in SJP-4, respectively.
