Abstract
It would be interesting if we can see how latent heat flux looks likeunder tropical cyclones, since recent satellite data are available forhigh speed wind range up to 50 m/s. The latent heat flux andspecific humidity from AMSR-2 and WindSAT satellite data areexamined during the typhoon Chaba in 2016 over the NorthwesternPacific. The combination of SST, water vapor, and wind speed fromsatellites are used, suggesting that wind speed is critical for betterestimate, while better coverage of SST also plays a important role.indSAT satellite data areexamined during the typhoon Chaba in 2016 over the NorthwesternPacific.
