dc.description.abstract Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) is a form of radar on an observation satellite or aircraft which can observe target landscapes with finer spatial resolution. No matter what the weather is like with selection of wavelength, it can be used day and night. This study is a research to improve effectiveness of ship detection based on HH-VV phase difference using co-polarization of HH and VV polarization in TerraSAR-X SAR image. From the result, ships can be distinguished easily by other objects such as sea condition in the image with HH-VV phase difference. In case of Vessel Monitoring System with existing ground radar network, detection range is limited due to range limit of radio wave. But Vessel Monitoring System with SAR could detect widespread range more effectively and improve safety of vessel’s management.and night.
