Experimental study on utilization of stationary fisheries in the coastal area of Ulleungdo

dc.description.abstract To solve the reduction of fishery resources in Ulleungdo, we conducted studies of suitable site selection, selection of fishing gear, trial operation and search for useful fish resources and investigated the possibility of the stationary fisheries. The selection of fishing gear was made in consideration of the size of the project, the environment, operation and management costs of the waters around Ulleungdo, and conditions in which small fishing boats and small - scale personnel could operate. In this study, triangular net was selected in consideration of business scale, stability of the fishery after installation, utilization of fishery experts, and local fishermen. During the study, useful target species were classified scorpaeniformes fish (Sebastes schlegelii, S. inermis, S. pachycephalus, Inimicus japonicus, Hexagrammos agrammus, and Elkhorn sculpin), perciformes fish (Epinephelus akaara, Trachurus japonicus, Pagrus major, Chromis notata), Tetraodontiformes fish (Thamnaconus modestus), and cephalopod Uroteuthis chinensis. As a result of 11 times survey using a triangular net during 2 months, the main species has been investigated by red seabream, yellowtail, olive flounder, mitra squid, horse mackerel, filefish, etc. The commercial species was caught a total of approximately 983.4kg. In the case of the continuous decrease of the production of squid, which is one of the major fish species of Ulleungdo, it is consheries.
