Abstract
Marine sponges are a rich source of secondary metabolites with novel structures and potent biological activities. Our research on marine natural products has been covering the isolation and identification of bioactive secondary metabolites of marine invertebrates inhabiting various regions including tropical area and Korean water.
The geographical distribution of the natural product isolated from the sponges of a particular genus (Scalarispongia and Petrosia) analyzed by the scientific database search would be presented and discussed, along with the several examples of the natural product research conducted in our lab. The result clearly indicates that the diversity is what matters and needs to be traced and understood more in depth.of marine invertebrates inhabiting various regions including tropical area and Korean water.
