dc.description.abstract In this study, a new approach based on the theory of cohesive fine sediment transport has been attempted to measure loss ratio of sediments in the field, i.e. Saemangeum reclamation site located on the west coast of South Korea, where one of the longest sea dike in the world has been constructed. In this study, a series of deposition tests with an annular flume were performed to determine the equilibrium SSC (suspended sediment concentration) for a given flow velocity or shear stress, Ceq, which is used to estimate loss ratio of sediments. In order to verify the validity of the new approach, the direct field measurements for loss ratio of sediments has been also performed and compared with the experimental results.f the longest sea dike in the world has been constructed.
