Abstract
- Great number of coating materials have been introduced and currently used for the repair work of underwater structures which include deteriorated concrete structures. However, the selection and use of coating materials sometimes can be limited due to the shortage of knowledges on materials such as mechanical properties and available working hours. Some production companies provide detailed material information and guideline while some are not, and this can cause the problem especially for designers and/or engineers who are not familiar with such materials. Thus, ocean engineers should be careful on the selection of coating materials for the better performance and also to save a total repair cost. To this end, experimental program was set up to investigate some important factors that can influence on the performance of coating materials after repair. In detail, commercially available coating materials were selected and experimental works were conducted to understand the effects of different materials and surface conditions on measured pull-off bond strengths.
