필리핀의 해양환경 법 체계

Abstract

Philippines is a Southeast Asian archipelagic country in the Western Pacific, comprising more than 7,100 islands straddling across the vast waters of the Pacific Ocean, the West Philippine Sea and the Celebes Sea. According to the 2005 report of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations 10-years multi-disciplinary study conducted on the world’s center of marine biodiversity, the Philippines is not only part of the center, but it is the epicenter of marine biodiversity. But the Philippines is facing marine environmental problems that if not given a proper solution will destroy the marine ecosystem and will be a cause of serious health issues, social and economic impacts. Among the problems that the Philippines deals are pollutions, global warming, natural resources depletion, degradation of the marine ecosystem and proper disposal of wastes. This kind of environmental problems are the common issues that developing countries facing in connection with their socioeconomic conditions. That is why the Philippines is strengthening its capabilities in dealing with all the marine environmental problems, starting with marine environmental laws, proper foresight, planning, and great political determination and international commitments.
