dc.description.abstract A new manzamenone derivative and four known manzamenones were isolated from the tropical marine sponge Plakortis sp. These compounds exhibited an improved inhibitory effect against the copper-induced LDL oxidation. Among these known compounds, 43-O-methylmanzamenone A has been exposed oxidative conditions such as hydrogen peroxide, mCPBA and primary alkyl amines to give various derivatives. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of mass spectrometry and detailed 2D NMR spectroscopic data. -
