dc.description.abstract Monitoring using satellite data is needed to effectively monitor the movements of ships operating in the ocean. In this paper, the ship detection system utilizing Sentinel-1 IW data is introduced and the ship detection performance of the system is evaluated. Ship detection systems include noise elimination as well as radiometric and geometric corrections for SAR satellite data. In order to verify the performance of these systems, ship detection was carried out on commercial and fishing vessels off the Busan coast, and detection accuracy was calculated by comparing the location of detected vessels with AIS data. This reviewed the potential for use in the ship detection aspects of Sentinel-1 satellites. In the future, we plan to expand the scope to cover the Gulf of Gyeonggi, and to carry out more detailed verification through comparative analysis through the Radar data as well as the AIS. -
