dc.description.abstract Comparative evaluation of two drying methods, freeze-drying method and high temperature method, was mainly focused on to improve the efficiency of metals contained in manganese nodules (nodules). Herein, we used a mixture of two bio-derived materials, alginate and rhamnolipid, to form complexes with heavy metals in the nodules. Alginate-rhamnolipid (Alg-Rh) complexes with metals were dried by two methods and the samples were analysed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) and particle size analyser (PSA). Macroscopic differences between the samples with the methods have been observed. Moreover, distinctive structure and composition changes have been investigated. In results, target heavy metal could be more obtained depending on a drying method. Therefore, two drying methods would be one of the most important basis studies for the future actual development of remediation technology.
