dc.description.abstract In the ocean bubbles are well known to play significant acoustic roles in practical sound application. Information on bubble size distribution is critical to understand sound propagation and ambient noise in the ocean. In this paper new acoustic semi-coherent and coherent bubble sizing methods are proposed and numerically tested for given bubble distributions of Gaussian and power-law functions. The numerical test results show that the semi-coherent and coherent acoustic bubble sizing methods can more accurately estimate the given bubble size distributions than a conventional incoherent method. © 1999 Chin.
