Abstract
Ocean around Korean Peninsula has dynamic characteristic at primary production (PP). To estimate accuracte PP at the ocean around Korean Peninsula, input factors are needed to be accurate first. Photosynthesis available radiation (PAR) is one of the most important factors to estimate PP. Here, PAR at the ocean surface around Korean Peninsula was estimated with GOCI imagery. Input factors for GOCI PAR model based on plane-parallel theory were GOCI L1B images and atmospheric components. Atmospheric components were extracted from Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications, Version 2 (MERRA-2) reanalysis imagery. GOCI instantaneous PAR (iPAR) was estimated and corrected with clear sky condition data. After correction, corrected GOCI iPAR values were integrated to GOCI daily PAR and validation with in-situ measurement was carried out. GOCI daily PAR values showed a good agreement with in-situ measurement daily PAR where root meas square error and mean bias error were 4.98 % and -0.52 %, respectively. Comparison of GOCI PAR with other satellite sensors PAR data were carried out, too. And GOCI showed the highest performance at the ocean around Korean Peninsula. GOCI PAR data is expected to be the factor for estimating PP at the ocean around Korean Peninsula, and will be serviced officially at the Korea Ocean Satellite Center. Instantaneous PP at the East Sea/Japan Sea will be studied as application of GOCI PAR at the further study.
