시장에서 유통되는 가공된 홍어가오리의 종및 원산지 판별을 위한 바코드 활용

Abstract

Skates are commercially important fish species in Korea. Especially, Raja pulchra enjoys high consumer preference and a high price than compared to other Raja species because of its better taste. Since the morphological characters distinguishing species apart are no longer detectable in the processed fish products, consumers might sometimes get deceived of the species and of the origin and pay more than the reasonable price. In the present study, using DNA barcoding method we identified the species and their origin of the processed skate products in the market to examine whether the products were labeled correctly or not in terms of the species name and its origin. The result shows about half of the samples were mislabeled and mixed with the different species
