dc.description.abstract Two monstrilloid species belonging to the genera Monstrillopsis and Maemonstrilla are recorded from Korea: Monstrillopsis n. sp. and Maemonstrilla simplex Grygier & Ohtsuka, 2008. Specimens were obtained from the south coast of Korea, using a light trap at night since May, 2012. Monstrillopsis n. sp. is characteristic in having a band of cuticular striations on cephalothorax both dorsally and ventrally. Monstrillopsis n. sp. differs from M. chilensis Su&aacute rez-Morales, Bello-Smith & Palma, 2006, the only congener sharing the band of striations, by elongated antennule (much longer than cephalothorax) and the location of the band of striations (nearly at halfway of cephalothorax in the present species against anterior to the proximal quarter in M. chilensis). Maemonstrilla simplex is reported for the first time outside the type locality, the Okinawa Islands. As the male of Maemonstrilla has not been recognized yet since the genus was established in 2008, the male of Ma. simplex is described on the basis of Korean specimens. This presentation deals with description of the two monstrilloid species and taxonomic accounts on their affinities, with detailed illustrations of the morphological characters. a light trap at night since May, 2012.
