Abstract
Demands for underwater robots for construction and maintenance of marine structures have been gradually increasing with the growth of related industries such as offshore plants, marine energy, ports, and marine wind power. The Underwater Construction Robotics R&D Center deals with R&D projects regarding the development of underwater construction robots, the establishment of infrastructure. The purpose of the underwater construction robots is to exploit the abundant resources in the ocean all over the world including Korea. In this paper, the key tasks and status of the R&D project are summarized 1) the development of core technologies for underwater construction robots including a light work class ROV, 2) the development of heavy-duty ROV technologies, 3) the development of track based ROV technologies. And the strategy on the practical use of developed robots is also presented.nstruction Robotics R&D Center deals with R&D projects regarding the development of underwater construction robots, the establishment of infrastructure.
