Abstract
- The population genetic structure of Oplegnathus fasciatus, an important commercial fish in the Northwestern Pacific, was investigated using mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). The cytochrome C oxidase subunit 1 (COI) sequences of the 163 individuals collected from seven different localities distributed along the coastal waters of East Sea and Yellow Sea were used. COI has shown very low nucleotide diversity and high haplotype diversities. AMOVA test have shown variability between population genetic structure from the East China Sea and the rest. Neutrality tests have revealed evidence for demographic expansion.
