Abstract
In this paper, we propose the world’s first seawater battery (SWB) system for maritime applications. The proposed SWB system consists of a group of SWB packs. Each pack is designed with modular architecture to provide easy connection with other packs, which enables the system to freely change its capacity depending on the requirements of various maritime application. Through tank and real sea experiments, we identify that SWB is working well as designed. Further, we devise an electric shock generator to solve a biofouling problem occurred when operating SWB in the real sea environment. The long-term experimental results show that device applied electric shock generator can reduce periphyton growing on the cell surface.
