Abstract
Rapid industrialization and urbanization are causing enormous aggravation to natural environments not amenable to tolerate. Especially, water pollution is the most serious irritation that occurs day by day. Main waters and sea areas are causing severe problems nation wide, so the results, such as the pollution of living environments, is obvious if appropriate management isn't made. And it is an apparent fact that the occurrence of red tide is due to industrial pollutant and sewage among water pollution sources which eventually flow into the sea causing high concentration of nutrients. Many researchers have reported the methods of preventing red tides such as spraying ocher, microorganisms, a natural animals, and so on, but they cause doubts on its efficiency when practically applied. Because of these situations, the current condition of the wastewater treatment systems which dispel the nutrients of industrial pollutant and sewage, is examined and researches are required to improve this system in order to fundamentally suppress the red tide. More than 90% of domestic wastewater treatment systems are secondary treatment systems that only eliminate organic compounds, so the development and improvement of this system to a more intense tertiary treatment system, excluding nitrogen and phosphorous, is necessary. This fact presents the impending of experiments on the usage of biological nutrient removal systems of soil and marine microorganisms which the N, P removal efficiency is high and the usage of genetically modified bacteria as in nitrate reductase as well as nitrite reductase. Amelioration of the wastewater treatment systems as well as the completion of industrial pollutant and sewage accumulating system should be the most effective way of preserving the marine ecosystem and essentially controling the red tide.
