dc.description.abstract | In seismic waveform inversion, we need to update source wavelet in addition to velocity model at every iteration step. However, since we generally have incorrect source information in field data, we need to develop a source-independent waveform inversion algorithm. We propose a source-independent waveform inversion algorithm using the logarithm of normalized wavefields. In our source-independent waveform inversion, we use backpropagation algorithm of reverse time migration, thereby implicitly computing the steepest descent by correlating backpropagated residuals with virtual source. | - |
