dc.description.abstract For better understanding of the performance of differenttypes of directional wave measurement instruments, two fieldexperiments had been carries out: one at offshore platform located in EastChina Sea and the other at plain coastal water at eastern coast of Korea. The directional measurement sensors used in the experiment areDatawell's directional wave rider buoy, PUV, ADCP and a commerciallyavailable X-band radar. The different methods of wave measurementwere compared and the advantage and disadvantage of the measurementsystem are be discussed. The revision of the coastal wave monitoringsystem in Korea will be also discussed based on the results of suchexperiments -
