dc.description.abstract Yellow sea is one of the hotspot of biodiversity in terms of Large Marine Ecosystem (LME). Ecologically important areas (EIAs) for 6 different taxonomic groups (mammal, bird, fish, mollusk, coastal plant and algae) were review by multi-disciplinary analytical procedure. Existing data and information of each taxonomic group were share to identify each EIA of each taxonomic group. Geographically, multi-disciplinary biodiversity assessment (cross-taxonomic approaches) with GIS overlapping techniques was identified as the potential priority area for developing Marine Protected Areas. Adopted common criteria were applied to identify EIA in Yellow sea between China and Korea (representative species, endemism and unique species assemblages, threatened and/or protected spp. Ramsar criterion). Indicator species under each criterion was selected and potential priority area was delineated. Identified potential priority area by indicator species was cross-reviewed with current existing protected area in coastal and marine area, which provide a knowledge gap of protected and management implication. Potentially priority area may be regarded for conservation of globally significant habitat and species (biodiversity). Potentially priority areas can provide technical assistance in identification of priority locations for the creation of new protected areas or current managed areas. -
