dc.description.abstract High resolution 3-D P- and S-wave velocity models are constructed for Mw 7.6 Chi-Chi, Taiwan, earthquake source and its aftershock region using seismic tomography method with island-wide seismic network data and high-density aftershock array data. Results indicate potential involvement of fluid in the source area, low Vp, low Vs, and slightly high Vp/Vs. Areas of aftershock sources are corresponding to high Vp anomaly. Boundary of sharp change in the velocity model is also identified and can be correlated with one of the active faults in the region, the Shuilikeng fault. -
