Abstract
The East China Sea is the marginal sea which connects open ocean, and the Kuroshio and the Tsushima Warm Current affect the physical, chemical and biological environments. The discharge of Janjiang River also severely affect the water properties in summer time. Moreover, the East China Sea is a good example demonstrating the difficulty of estimating chlorophyll a with a reasonable accuracy. Here we will talk about some aspects of chlorophyll distribution in the East China Sea in July, 2006 by ocean color remote sensing data. We found some distinctive features of increasing and decreasing of chlorophyll concentrations in the study area with SeaWiFS and MODIS chlorophyll a data, and we validated that’s reality with normalized water leaving radiance which include blue, green, and yellow band. Also, we examined the vertical structure of the study area with cruise data which were obtained in 19~23, July. The results and problems in such approach are discussed.
