dc.description.abstract | This paper proposes impedance-based structural health monitoring (SHM) techniques for detecting corrosion damage of offshore structures. Piezoelectric sensors that can serve as both actuators and sensors at the same time in a high frequency range (typically higher than 30 kHz) are utilized for impedance measurements. The feasibility of the proposed approach was verified throughout the laboratory testing using a simple aluminum beam specimen. Finally, the field test employing six Macro-fiber composite (MFC) sensors was carried out for a offshore structure currently under construction. | - |
