dc.description.abstract A new round of revision for technical standards of port & harbor facilities are being carried out in China, where reliability based design methods are the fundamental of technical standards. At the same time, the design codes based on reliability are being prepared in Japan, and will be completed by end of the year 2006 or later. In recent years, reliability based design methods are currently hot issue among code developers, professors and government officers to adopt as national standards in Korea. Therefore, joint studies are necessary for the three countries in order that the technical standards of three countries are more scientific and reasonable. Moreover a certain compatibility among the technical standards of three countries are critical to promote the cooperation of technology and economy. -
