dc.description.abstract Geotechnical characteristic values for reliability-based design were estimated using domestic marine clays. As a result of analysis, it was close to mean in order of Student/Ovesen, Schneider and EN 1990's approach. And it was presented that EN 1990's approach is inappropriate to estimate geotechnical characteristic value. Also, four approach methods had a trend which evaluates conservatively the characteristic value with increase in soil variability. In comparison with results of design by representative value from the method which has been used up to now and by characteristic value, the former was mostly overestimated. -
