dc.description.abstract An aerobic, Gram-negative, non-gliding and ivory-coloured bacterial strain, designated TJD809T, was isolated from a marine sponge inhabited in the South Sea, Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain TJD809T showed relatively high similarity with the Psychroserpens mesophilus (95.8%) followed by Bizionia paragorgiae (95.2%), Olleya marilimosa (95.1%) and Bizionia saleffrena (95.0%), however produce a distinct phyletic line. On the basis of polyphasic taxonomic evidence, a novel genus and species Eburimonas spongiae gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. -
