| dc.description.abstract | We study the response in the Kuroshio to the two different types of El Niño in the observations for the period of 1950-2007. Based on the historical NINO indices, we first define the two different types of El Niño., i.e., the central Pacific El Niño (CP-El Niño) and the eastern Pacific El Niño (EP-El Niño). The CP-El Niño is characterized by the anomalous warm sea surface temperature (SST) in the central equatorial Pacific and its impacts are distinguished from that of conventional El Niño (i.e., EP-El Niño). It is found that the response in the Kuroshio depends on the types of El Niño in different ways. | - |
