dc.description.abstract The demand for high temporal and spatial resolution satellite Sea Surface Temperature data for use inoperational model and data assimilation schemes is increasing. The passive microwave radiometer to measure SST is significant, because at these frequencies, microwave energy is insensitive to non-precipitating cloud, atmospheric aerosols and atmospheric water vapor but their spatial resolution is low. The thermal infrared remote sensors with a high spatial resolution but they are affected by clouds, aerosols, and atmospheric water vapor. In this study, to compare Sea Surface Temperature from microwave and infrared satellite measurements such as TMI, AMSR-E and NGSST dataset, in the East China Sea and south of Ryukyu Islands, in-situ data and Argo buoy data during typhoon season were used. RMS error between microwave satellite data and in-situ data is 0.46℃ and RMS error between in-situ and NGSST data is 0.7℃. Moreover, the RMS error between Argo buoy and microwave satellite SST is 0.69℃ and the RMS error between Argo buoy and NGSST data is 1.21℃. As a result, SST measurements from microwave satellite have more reasonable error range compare with NGSST data for use in operational model and data assimilation. -
