dc.description.abstract In order to examine responses of marine planktonic communities by effects of crude oil spills, the experiment conducted six independent 10 L outdoor microcosms. In this experiment, Iranian Heavy crude oil was inoculated in five microcosms at concentrations of 10 μL L-1, 100 μL L-1, 1 mL L-1, 5 mL L-1 and 10 mL L-1, respectively. As direct inoculation of the crude oil at over 1mL L-1, phytoplankton abundance was rapidly decreased and copepod abundance was totally killed for 6 days, while, total bacterial abundance was higher increased from 8.01 to 19.46 x107 cells mL-1. Moreover, in Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis analysis, bacterial composition was increased as inoculation of the oil. However, as the inoculation at below concentrations of 100 μL L-1, they were little affected. The integrated planktonic communities was affected at over 1 mL L-1 levels. The data implied that oil spills might be an important stress factor for pelagic systems. -
