dc.description.abstract | A mesotrophic bacterium, strain MEBiC 05055T, was isolated from a marine sponge inhabited in the South Sea of Geomundo, Korea. Cells are Gram negative, non-spore forming, motile, strictly aerobic, catalase- positive, oxidase- weak positive and rod-shaped (0.7-1.6㎛ ´ 0.5-0.7㎛). Growth is observed between 10 and 35℃ (optimum 29℃), at pH 7.0-9.0 (optimum 7.5) and in the presence of 1.6-5.4% (optimum 2.7-3.1%) NaCl. The isolate required Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions in addition to Na+ ion for growth. The isolate showed highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with Tateyamaria oomphaliia MKT107T (97.9%) and followed by the members of the genera Sulfitobacter donghicola DSW-25T (95.6%), Oceanibulbus indolifex Hel 45T (95.6%), Roseobacter litoralis ATCC 49566T (95.5%), Staleya guttiformis Ekho Lake-38T (95.6%), Thalassobius aestuarii IMSNU 14011 (95.6%) and Shimia marina CL-TA03T (96.5%). The marjor cellular fatty acids were iso-C16:0 (10.9%), C18:1ω7c (57.2%), C19:0 cyclo w8c (19.9%). The major respiratory quinone is Q-10. The DNA G+C content is 65.5mol%. From this polyphasic taxonomical evidence, strain MEBiC 05055T should be identified as a novel species in the genus Tateyamaria and proposed it as the name Tateyamaria spongiae sp. nov. The type strain is MEBiC05055T (=KCCM 42888T =JCM 15593T). | - |
