dc.description.abstract The objective of the present study was to analyze how Ditylum brightwellii was morphologically changed by effect of environmental factors focused on ecological, physiological and molecular approaches. D. brightwellii in morphology had distinct types such as the prism and the cylinder form, while it was not shown the molecular distance as the analysis of complete SSU to partial LSU rDNA between two types. As observation of presenting aspect between two types in coastal water of South Korea, the prism type was strongly presented for high frequency at low temperature, while the cylinder type was at high temperature. However, other environmental factors were not significantly affected to presence of types. A growth experiment proved the effect of temperature on morphological change of D. brightwellii. In low temperature, the prism type was relatively increased, while the cylinder form was increased in high temperature. Overall, the results demonstrate for an understanding of morphological changes of D. brightwellii, and it may be important to associate with their living strategy. -
