Abstract
The ocean mixed layer plays a critical role in the climate system by controlling the exchange of heat and monentum between the atmosphere and the coean. One of the most important features of the ocean mixed layer for the understanding of the climate system is ho deep the mixed layer depth grows in winter, responding to the surface cooling.
