dc.description.abstract In this study we aimed to understand the seasonal change of phytoplankton community structure and their relationship of nutrients at the Pusan port, South Korea during the 3 years. During the study periods, phytoplankton communities, a total 84 taxa were identified to the following taxonomic groups: bacillariophyceae (70), euglenophyceae (1), chrysophyceae (2) and dinophyceae (11). Diatoms appeared dominant taxa at Pusan port (Table 1.).Diatom group which occupied one of the major components in phytoplankton communities was high in spring, autumn and winter seasons. S.costastum and Ch. socialis were affected by nutrients (p<0.01) such as nitrite and phosphate. Phosphorus-limitation (Myk-lestad, 1974, 1977, 1995; Penna et al., 1999; Alcoverro et al., 2000; Staats et al., 2000) and, for some species, nitrogen-limitation(Granum et al., 2002) can determine an increase of photosynthetic extracellular release incultured diatoms such as S. costautm. -
