dc.description.abstract Total organic carbon, total nitrogen contents and their δ 13C and δ15N values aswell as aliphatic and polyaromatic hydrocarbon were determined from 50 surfacesediments samples in Gyeongi Bay. Higher TOC and TN concentrations were shownat the mouth of the bay and decreased inward.TOC content showed a positivecorrelation with mean grain size of surface sediments. TOC to TN ratio ranged from5 to 38, decreasing towards the inner bay. δ 13C values of organic matterincreases from -31‰ to -19‰away from the coast indicating a decrease ofterrestrial input. δ 15N values were in the range of -0.26‰ to 9.8‰, showing amixture of both marine and terrestrial sources near the coast and predominantmarine sources away from the coast. LMW/HMW, CPI indices showed that thesources of aliphatic hydrocarbon were mainly marine biogenic and followed byvascular plant and petrogenic. Ph/Ant, Fl/Py indices showed that the source ofpolyaromatic hydrocarbon is majorly anthropogenic (petrogenic and pyrolitic).Lowcorrelation between aliphatic and polyaromatic hydrocarbons indicates differentsources between both hydrocarbons. -
