dc.description.abstract Steelslag, generated as by-product in steel-making factory, has been recently studied forremoving heavy metals in aqueous phase due to the high sorption affinity of heavy metals.Zeolite has been also recognized as an efficient sorbent against heavy metal up to date. This paper is focused on the comparison of removal performance between steelslag and zeolite against cadmium in aqueous solutions. In order to compare removal capacity, the initial concentration of cadmium was 300 and 500 mg/L and batch test was carried out for more than 90 hours. The result was exerted for both chemical contents of materials and pH of solutions. The characteristics of steelslag and zeolite were evaluated using pseudo-second order model with high correlation (R2). Tests showed that the rate constant (k2) and initial sorption rate (h) of steelslag were estimated higher than zeolite for removal of cadmium. -
