dc.description.abstract Skeletonema species are common phytoplankters, especially in coastal estuarine and marine environments where they often form dense blooms. The genus Skeletonema has been recently revised based on new ultrastructural and genetic analyses. This study aimed to understand the ecological characteristic of Genus Skeletonema at Busan port in Korea. This study monthly investigated physico-chemical factors and phytoplankton at Busan port from February to December in 2010. During the study, Skeletonema spp. were showed 4 species such as S. dohrnii, S. marinoi, S. tropicum and S. sp. Skeletonema dohrnii and S. marinoi were found at the highest number in the from April to June at Busan port. These species appeared to be high temperature and dissolved oxygen concentration. Skeletonema tropicum was found at the higher number in the winter season (over ×104 cells L-1) at Busan port. S. tropicum showed highest cell abundance among Skeletonema spp. -
