dc.description.abstract Marine invertebrates, including sponges, have been well recognized as the major sources for the many of novel biologically active chemical diversity. In our continuing chemical investigation for bioactive metabolites from marine organisms, we have isolated alkaloids from the sponges Xestospongia sp. and Agelas sp. in Chuuk, FSM. Bioassay-guided separations of the crude extracts of Xestospongia sp. using various chromatographic techniques yielded a new halenaquinone derivative together with known alkaloids. -
