dc.description.abstract This report describes a year and half activities for validation of GOCI Level-2 products since launch July 2010. The GOCI Level-2 products are normalized water-leaving radiance (or remote-sensing reflectance), chlorophyll a, suspended matter, colored dissolved organic matter and inherent optical properties. Currently, these products are being generated using empirical algorithms based on historical field measurements.Seventeen cruises were organized from August 2010 to October 2011 to collect in-situ data to compare concurrent GOCI products. Total number of stations are 362 from these cruises. Remote-sensing reflectance was measured mostly using above-water hyperspectral radiometers (ASD or TriOS-RAMSES) or in-water hyperspectral profiler (Satlantic) in some cases. Water samples were analyzed for chlorophyll a, CDOM, TSM, absorption coefficients. AC-s was sometimes deployed to collect absorption and scattering coefficients.Besides the ship-based measurements, we also installed the TriOS-RAMSES radiometers on fixed towers (Gageocho-station, Saemangeum Tower) to collect water reflectance spectra continuously, which are transferred to KOSC by internet everyday. Also an Aeronet-OC system was installed on a fixed tower (Gageocho station) and operated for a limited period. It is under way to analyze and quality-control all the collected matchup data. This report will summarize an overview ofatter, colored dissolved organic matter and inherent optical properties.
