dc.description.abstract Marine microorganisms isolated from the marine environment (sediments, sponges, tunicates, etc.) have attracted considerable attention due to the structural diversity and unique biological activities of their secondary metabolites. The screening of marine microbial natural products continues to represent an important route to the discovery of novel compounds for the development of new therapeutic agents. It now remains to be determined not only the extent of marine microbial diversity but how adaptations to life in the sea have influenced the production of secondary metabolites. In our ongoing research to develop the biomedical potential of marine microorganisms, we have isolated lots of bioactive metabolites from marine-derived bacteria. We present here the discovery of new bioactive metabolites from marine microorganisms. The isolation, structure determination, and bioactivities of the compounds will be presented. -
