Abstract
It is well known that tidal energy resources are very abundant on the western coast of Korean peninsula. The first tidal power plant of 254 MW is now being constructed in Sihwa lake for scheduled operation in 2010 (Bae et al., 2010). With regard to the tidal power plant, the sluice is one of significant structures in the design for achieving target capacity of the power generation. For example, Lee et al. (2010) investigated the change of water discharge capability according to geometrical shape of the sluice to maximize the water discharge performance. In this study, the influence of methodology of assessing water levels on the discharge coefficient of sluice for tidal power generation was investigated by performing laboratory experiment.th regard to the tidal power plant, the sluice is one of significant structures in the design for achieving target capacity of the power generation.
