Abstract
We conducted magnetic survey from 26, Jan. 2012 to 29, Jan. 2012 using R/V SONNE, ROV(Remotely Operated Vehicle) and three component magnetometer.This three component magnetometer sensor(HMR2300 Honeywell) are oriented in orthogonal directions to measure the X, Y and Z vector components of a magnetic field. During the magnetic survey, ROV followed the tracks of the plan with 50 m altitude above seafloor. The data of the magnetometer sensor, the motion sensor and USBL(Ultra Short Base Line) were recorded on a notebook through the optical cable of ROV using logging software. The position data of R/V SONNE and ROV were obtained from GPS and USBL. We simultaneously conducted the multi-beam echo sounder survey during the magnetic suvey. The obtained three component magnetic data are fully utilized by finding possible hydrothermal vents of the survey area.ections to measure the X, Y and Z vector components of a magnetic field.
